The international handball mailing list was started in the fall of 1994. During that time it has grown from just a handfull of subscribers to well over thirty five hundred (3,500) subscribers today. Making it not only one of the largest gay mailing lists but THE list for the serious handballer anywhere in the world.
No other list provides as many subscribers in as many countries around the world as does this list (handball@groups.queernet.org).
There are two formats to the mailing list, both with the same contents when it comes to the messages. The first is referred to as the "regular" format where messages are received individually after they have been reviewed by the moderator. The second is referred to the "digest" format where the messages are batched and then sent as a single message. The digest messages are sent whenever a pre-determined packet size has been reached or once a day at a pre-determined time, which ever occurs first.
To subscribe to the handball list, you must send your message to sympa@groups.queernet.org. In the subject line of your message, type in: subscribe handball Firstname Name (Indicate your own first name (Firstname) and name (Name)). Leave the body of your message blank.
After this, you will receive a message telling you whether your request was accepted or not: if the subscription to the list is subject to any approval, the list owner may choose not to subscribe you. If so, do not send several other requests: it is useless as the result will remain the same. You can possibly send a message directly to the list owner (nameofthelist-request@groups.queernet.org) to explain why you really want to subscribe to the list... Note: you will sometimes be asked to confirm your subscription request before it can be processed. If so, please conform to the instructions contained in the message you receive.
There is also a web site where the subscribers to the handball@groups.queernet.org mailing list can maintain their profiles. Great for making contacts either locally or when you are going to be travelling.
